The Art of Aimee
Erickson
Aimee Erickson was born in
Paris France, raised in California, and now lives in Portland, Oregon.
Her painterly realism reflects her training as an illustrator
and her innate sensitivity to subtle color and light. She holds a BFA in
illustration from BYU and has also
studied at the Art Students'League in NYC and the Florence Academy of Art in
Italy.
In 1997 Aimee completed the official portrait of Oregon Governor Barbara
Roberts,
making her the first woman artist to paint an Oregon gubernatorial portrait.
She teaches drawing and painting at the Multnomah Arts Center and offers
workshops in her studio and abroad.
Aimee has been a visiting
artist at several elementary schools, directing and working with students to
create large-scale murals, notably the
180-foot long Multnomah Arts Center mural, completed in 2009 with 750 community
members participating.
